I purchased a set of these after reading some good reviews on them. For such a large viewing angle they are very clear and surprisingly bright even though they have small lenses. I'm thinking of getting another set for the wife you has a pair of Minolta 7X25 as the views are a lot better with the Alpen's.

The Alpen 8x25 wide angle are a much better buy than most compacts on the market. These fit nicely in the pocket and have a nice molded grip for the fingers on top. I take these to the race track and the wide angle lets me keep an eye on all the horses in great detail and no shake on the image unlike my old bulky binoculars.
