Rockport, Texas

Rockport, Texas offers a unique experience in Rockport Birding and Kayak Adventures, courtesy of their specially built boat known as Skimmer.
Skimmer has been designed for high speed with shallow draft, offering high capacity access where other vessels just can't reach.
Birdwatching groups of up to 46 use the large observation deck to get a close look at the birds, and over 400 species have been documented thus far. Whooping Crane and Rookery tours along with tours that combine birdwatching with dolphin watching are available.
Here the Great Blue Heron is a crowd favorite, and recognized as one of the first birds to herald the coming of spring breeding season. Once the herons have established breeding season, others such as Reddish and Snowy Egrets along with Tricolor Herons will begin nesting.
Whooping Cranes can be observed in elaborate mating dances from the end of March through the end of April. All in all, the months of March through June offer a kaleidoscope of colors and feathers. You will be delighted at this time of year as so many bird species enact mating and nesting rituals in the Rockport area.
The Texas bird, officially, is the Northern Mockingbird and you can find a checklist of birds to watch out for in Texas here.
