From the same people who brought you Fuji film and many other fine optical products, Fujinon began in 1944 and has expanded to a company that now employs over 1500 people worldwide. Fujinon binoculars are a multi-faceted line of binoculars to match any consumer need. Popular on one hand, Fujinon also makes some very high end binoculars that are highly covetable. One consistent quality across the Fujinon line is durability.
Some Fujinon binoculars
Fujinon calls their SX series of 7x50’s “the world’s brightest binoculars.” Lenses are all coated so that images are rendered 15% brighter than they are with other binoculars in the same range of quality.
The Fujinon Air Drop comes in various sizes and is built for maximum durability. These are built to withstand a 200G shock. They’re also waterproof and sink-proof. The 8x32 AD Black are also lightweight and come with a 5 year warranty. These are listed for over $200. For all of Fujinon’s bragging about durability, though, we’re surprised that these have only BK-7 prisms. The field of view of 372 feet at 1000 yards is another generous feature but these don’t promise great image clarity.
The Fuji Fujinon Techno-Stabi 14x40 binoculars are a versatile set of binoculars listed at $1000 or higher - but look around the web and you might find them for less. What you are paying for is excellent daylight imaging and amazing durability. These are the kind of binoculars that those in the military will use as a supplement to army issue binoculars.
At the top end of the Fujinon line is the Fujinon Range, with a 150 mm objective lens. Ideal for astronomy, these are mammoth scopes: 3.2 feet in length, 14 inches wide and 40 lbs of metal. For incredible backyard astronomy, these will only set you back $6,000.
