Winchester Binoculars

From the makers of “the gun that won the west,” Winchester binoculars carry the brand's promise of outdoor effectiveness. Winchester traces its roots back to 1866, when “the American legend” (then known as the Winchester Repeating Arms Company) produced the Model 66, the first firearm to bear a Winchester logo. Winchester quickly expanded into other gun accessories and within a decade was producing 1 million cartridges a day.

Today, Winchester makes many secondary products including rifle scopes and some fine binoculars in army green. The company has played a part in every major American war of the last century, supplying guns and other products (moving from rifle copes into the category of binoculars). All of that expertise is applied to Winchester 's binoculars.

Binocular models by Winchester

Winchester 's 10x50 WL Series are wide angle binoculars with a field of view of 351 feet at 1000 yards. A standard Winchester feature is rugged green rubber armoring that will withstand the excited jostling of hunters and birders alike. These weigh in at two lbs. Look around online and you might find these for less than $45.

The Winchester VDT 1042P binoculars use BaK4 roof prisms (for optimal optical clarity, as we like to say). These have a lot of the standard features you hope for in something with a higher price tag: multi-coated lenses, Winchester 's rubber coating, nitrogen filling for waterproofing and an expansive field of view: 315 feet at 1000yards. Oh, and they weigh exactly 1 lb. All this can be had for less than $150, if you look around online.

Winchester 's VDT-8320P's offer a field of view of 393 feet at 1000 yards, BaK4 prisms, waterproofing, light weight and multi-coated lenses. The magnification, objective lens and light gathering are not spectacular (8x32), though. Still, these are a nice buy at $100.

Winchester also makes spotting scopes such as the Zoom Spotting Scope in various sizes. The 20-60x 80 comes with a sturdy tabletop tripod. Of course, you don't get a wide field of view with these (52 feet at 60x) but they will bring you right up to the “game” you are watching.

No binocular or scope collection is complete without at least something bearing the Winchester name.
